Radon and Building Regulations

If your home is in a radon Affected Area any extensions to existing buildings or new build properties will be subject to Building Regulations that require protective measures to be taken against radon entering the building.

You can find out whether buildings are in areas that require protective measures by checking the Radon Risk Report.   Information on local ground conditions, geology, hydrogeology and related hazards can be obtained from the British Geological Survey GeoReports service.

The Building Research Establishment website also provides information on where protective measures may be required in new buildings and extensions, conversions and refurbishments in existing buildings.
